App Privacy Notice

The short version

• Your dream journal is yours. We store it so you can read it on your phone, and we delete it when you delete a dream or your account.
• To create interpretations and replies, your dreams and messages are sent to our AI provider, Google. They are not used to train AI models.
• We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers.
• You can delete your account and all your dreams at any time, right in the app.

Who we are

Minsence is a business name of Christian Parricella, a sole proprietor in Switzerland ("Minsence", "we", "us"), who makes the Minsence app (the "App") and is responsible for your information (the controller).Minsence, c/o Parricella, Sturzeneggstrasse 38B, 9015 St. Gallen, Switzerland. This notice explains what the App does with your information. Our website and newsletter have their ownPrivacy Policy.

What we collect

• Your account. Your email address and a password. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider and we never see it. We also store when you created your account, your plan, and which version of our terms you agreed to and when.
• Your profile. What you tell us after signing up, every question can be skipped: the name you want to be called, why you use Minsence, how often you remember dreams, your birthday, and if you like your time and place of birth. For the place you choose the nearest city from a list. From your birth data we calculate your sun, moon and rising sign. If you give your birthday, we also use it to check that you are an adult.
• Your dreams. What you write in your journal: the title, the dream itself and its date. We add the moon phase of that night and your time zone, so the App can show the right moon. When you ask for an interpretation, we store it with the dream, together with the AI model and language used.
• Your conversations with the AI Companion. The messages you write and the replies you receive. Conversations are kept on your phone only while the conversation screen is open. We do not store them on our servers. To answer you, the Companion also reads your five most recent dreams with their interpretations and, if you started the conversation from a dream, that dream. If a message suggests that you may be in crisis, the App shows you crisis lines. We count how often that happens each month, without the message and without who wrote it.
• Usage counts. How many interpretations and messages you used each day and how much AI processing that took each month. We need this for the daily limits and to keep the service affordable.
• Reports. When you report an AI answer, we store the answer, the reason you give and which dream it belongs to.
• Notifications. If you allow notifications, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging gives your device a token so that notifications can reach it.
• Morning reminder. If you turn it on, the reminder is scheduled on your phone. We do not receive the time you choose.
• Technical data. Like every online service, our server receives your IP address and technical details of each request, such as time and requested address, to deliver the App. Its access logs leave out your IP address and what you sent or searched for, and older logs are overwritten automatically. Our sign-in provider also receives your IP address when you sign in, to protect your account against abuse.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos or other files, and we do not use advertising IDs.

How we use your information

• to provide the App: your account, your journal, the moon calendar, interpretations and the AI Companion;
• to make the App yours: greet you by name, show your signs, and let interpretations and replies take your reasons for using Minsence into account;
• to confirm that you are an adult;
• to enforce fair limits and to protect the App against abuse;
• to review reported answers and make the AI safer;
• to answer your messages to support;
• to keep a record of your consent;
• to comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use it for profiling that leads to decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not process it for targeted advertising.

How the AI works with your information

Interpretations and Companion replies are created by Google Gemini, an AI service of Google LLC in the United States. When you ask for an interpretation, we send the dream, up to ten of your earlier dreams with their interpretations, the moon phase and the language of the App. When you write to the Companion, we send your message, the last 12 messages of the conversation, your five most recent dreams with their interpretations and, if you chose one, that dream. With both, we also send the name you chose, your reasons for using Minsence and how often you remember dreams, if you told us. Your birth data and your signs are not sent to the AI.

We use Gemini as a paid service. Under Google's terms for paid services, Google does not use this content to improve its products or to train its models. Google keeps prompts and answers for up to 55 days, only to detect and prevent abuse, and then deletes them. We do not use your personal data to train large language models or other AI models, and our providers may not do so.

AI answers are reflections, not facts, predictions or professional advice. They are not used to make decisions about you. You can report any answer in the App.

Consumer health data

Dreams can say something about how you feel, sleep or cope, and some state laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, treat information like this as consumer health data, and laws such as Connecticut's treat it as sensitive data. We collect it only with your consent, which you give when you create your account, and only to provide the App to you. We never sell it. We infer nothing about your health on purpose: interpretations and replies are reflections created by AI for you, not assessments, and we do not label or score you. Who we share information with

We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions:

Our providers are bound by contract to protect your information at least as well as this notice describes. Google Play, where you download the App, processes information under its own privacy policy.

The App does not track you across other apps or websites, so a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal changes nothing. No third party collects personal information about your activity across other websites or online services through the App. We do not sell covered information as defined by Nevada law.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of Minsence or others, or in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of the business, in which case this notice continues to apply.

How long we keep information

• Dreams and interpretations: until you delete them or your account.
• Companion conversations: not stored by us. They disappear when you leave the conversation.
• Profile and birth data: until you change or remove them in the App (Settings, Your profile) or delete your account.
• Account, consent record, usage counts and reports: until you delete your account.
• Technical data: our access logs hold no IP address and are overwritten automatically. Google keeps AI requests for up to 55 days to detect abuse.
• Support emails: as long as needed to handle your request. A request about your data, such as a deletion request, and our answer for up to 12 months afterwards, as proof that we handled it.

Deleting your account

In the App, open Settings and tap Delete account. This deletes your account, your profile with your birth data, all your dreams and interpretations, your usage counts and your reports for good. It cannot be undone. Without the App, see Delete your account.

If you also subscribed to our newsletter, that subscription is separate. Every newsletter has a link to unsubscribe.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including Washington, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other US states, and under Swiss data protection law, you may have the right to:

• know what personal information we have about you and how we use and disclose it;
• get a copy of it in a portable format;
• correct it;
• delete it;
• withdraw your consent;
• opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling (we do none of these);
• not be discriminated against for using these rights.

We honor these rights for everyone, wherever you live. Many of them you can use directly in the App: read and delete your dreams, or delete your account. For anything else, email support@minsence.com with the subject "Privacy request" from the email address of your account. We will respond within 30 days. You may use an authorized agent, in which case we may ask for proof.

If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying with the subject "Privacy appeal". We will answer in writing within the time your state's law requires. If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.

Children

The App is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If the birthday you enter shows you are younger, we do not store it, and we close and delete the account right away. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Minsence is based in Switzerland. Your account and journal are stored in Switzerland (Google Cloud, Zurich). Our server is in Germany (Hetzner Online GmbH), a country the Swiss Federal Council recognizes as providing adequate data protection. Sign-in (Firebase Authentication), notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging) and the AI service (Gemini API) are provided by Google LLC in the United States, and emails to us are forwarded by Cloudflare, Inc. in the United States and kept in Gmail by Google LLC. Where these companies are certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the Federal Council recognizes as adequate since 15 September 2024, we rely on that certification. Otherwise, and for transient processing in other countries where Google operates, we rely on standard contractual clauses recognized by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

Security

The App talks to our servers only over encrypted connections. Your journal can only be read through your own signed-in account, and we limit access to what is needed to run Minsence. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. The date at the top shows the last change. If we make material changes, we will tell you in the App before they take effect, and where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent again.
