The short version
- You can read this website without giving us any personal information.
- If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address so we can send it to you.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
- This website does not set its own cookies.
- You can unsubscribe, ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it at any time.
Who we are and what this policy covers
Minsence ("Minsence", "we", "us") operates the website minsence.com (the "Site") and the Minsence newsletter. Minsence is based in Switzerland. You can reach us atcontact@minsence.com.
This policy describes how we handle personal information collected through the Site and the newsletter. The Minsence app has its own App Privacy Notice that explains the data the app processes.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Newsletter sign-up: your email address. Together with it we store the language of the Site, the page where you signed up, the time you signed up and confirmed, a confirmation token, and whether you are subscribed or have unsubscribed.
- Emails you send us: your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data: like every website, our hosting and security providers process technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time of the request. This is needed to deliver the Site and protect it against abuse.
- Privacy-first analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the Site and which pages they read. It does not use cookies, does not store data on your device, and does not track you across other websites. We only see aggregated statistics, not individual visitors.
We do not collect sensitive personal information, and we do not collect consumer health data through the Site or the newsletter.
How we use information
- to send you the newsletter you asked for, including the confirmation email and occasional news about Minsence and the app launch;
- to answer your messages;
- to operate, secure and improve the Site;
- to keep a record of your consent and to respect your unsubscribe request;
- to comply with legal obligations and to protect our rights.
We do not use your information for targeted advertising, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
The newsletter
We use a double opt-in. After you enter your email address, we send you a confirmation email. You are only subscribed once you click the link in that email. If you do not confirm, we do not send you newsletters.
Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link. After you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list together with the date you unsubscribed, only so that we do not email you again. We comply with theCAN-SPAM Act.
Our newsletter emails contain a small tracking image and tracked links, which tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to understand what readers find useful, not to build advertising profiles. The confirmation email is sent without this tracking. You can avoid it by turning off automatic image loading in your email app.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose personal information only to service providers that process it on our behalf and under our instructions:
| Provider | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) | Hosting and delivery of the Site, security, email forwarding, analytics | Technical data, emails you send us |
| Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany) | Server that receives newsletter sign-ups | Email address, technical data of the sign-up request |
| Google LLC (USA), Firebase and Cloud Firestore | Database for newsletter subscriptions | Newsletter data described above |
| Mailgun Technologies, Inc., EU region | Sending the confirmation email and the newsletter, handling unsubscribes | Email address, delivery, open, click and unsubscribe status |
| Google LLC (USA), Gmail | Our inbox for messages sent to our email addresses | Emails you send us |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of Minsence or others, or in connection with a merger, sale or transfer of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
Cookies, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
The Site does not set its own cookies and does not use advertising or cross-site tracking technologies. Our hosting provider Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies to tell humans and bots apart.
Because we do not track you across websites, the Site works the same whether or not your browser sends a "Do Not Track" signal. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Since we do not sell or share personal information, no further action is needed on your part.
How long we keep information
- Newsletter: as long as you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, only the suppression record described above.
- Emails you send us: as long as needed to handle your request, and afterwards only as long as there is a legitimate reason, such as a legal obligation.
- Technical data: for the short periods our providers use for security and operations.

International transfers
Minsence is based in Switzerland. Newsletter subscriptions are stored in Switzerland (Google Cloud, Zurich), and our server is in Germany (Hetzner Online GmbH). The Site and our email forwarding run on Cloudflare, Inc., our inbox on Gmail of Google LLC, both in the United States, and the newsletter is sent by Mailgun Technologies, Inc. (USA) from its EU region. The Swiss Federal Council recognizes Germany and the EU as providing adequate data protection. For the companies in the United States, we rely on their certification under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, recognized as adequate since 15 September 2024, where they have one, and otherwise on standard contractual clauses recognized by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
Security
The Site is served over HTTPS only, and we limit access to personal information to what is needed to run Minsence. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make material changes, we will point them out on the Site or by email to newsletter subscribers before they take effect.
